By purchasing from islandiae.com, the buyer accepts these terms and conditions.

General information

The Islandiae online store is operated by Lidar ehf. (Icelandic ID no. 481222-1680, VAT no. 147201, Holtsvegur 53, 210 Gardabaer). All inquiries may be sent through the contact page, and we normally respond within 1-2 business days.

Products

Islandiae sells photographic prints and posters photographed by Hafsteinn and produced as printed artwork. All images on the website are protected by copyright and remain the property of the photographer. They may not be copied, distributed, modified, or used for commercial purposes without written permission.

Please note that colors in printed posters may differ slightly from what appears on a computer or phone screen, as color display varies between screens and paper.

Orders

Islandiae accepts an order once payment has been received. Confirmation is sent by email when the order has been received. Islandiae reserves the right to cancel orders, for example if incorrect pricing has been displayed, a product is out of stock, or an image or printing error has occurred. If an order is cancelled after payment has been made, it will be refunded in full.

Prices

All prices shown on the website include 24% VAT. All prices are subject to printing errors, image distortion, and exchange-rate changes. The total cost, including delivery charges, is shown in the cart before the order is confirmed.

Payments

Payment can be made by payment card (Visa/Mastercard) through a secure payment gateway, by bank transfer, or by any other payment methods offered at checkout. All card processing takes place in a certified and encrypted environment, and Islandiae does not store card numbers.

If payment is made by bank transfer, the buyer will receive an email with the account number and ID number. The order is considered accepted when the transfer has been received. If payment has not been received within three (3) business days, the order is considered void. To speed up processing, a receipt from online banking may be sent to [email] with the order number in the payment reference.

Delivery and shipping costs

Domestic shipping (Iceland)

Processing time is normally 3-7 business days from receipt of the order and payment. During busy periods and around holidays, processing may take slightly longer, in which case the buyer will be notified.

• Home delivery in the capital area and throughout Iceland: sent with Dropp according to its current price list.
• Free shipping threshold: Free home delivery on orders over 20,000 ISK.

International shipping

Islandiae ships posters and prints to customers worldwide. Shipping cost, delivery time, and any customs duties or import charges depend on the destination country and are shown in the cart before the order is confirmed. The buyer is responsible for all customs duties, VAT, and other charges that may apply in the destination country.

Estimated international delivery time is normally 5-15 business days from the shipping date, depending on the country and carrier.

Carriers and responsibility

Shipments are handed over to a third-party carrier, such as Dropp, Iceland Post, DHL, UPS, or a comparable provider. Delivery, liability, and transport are governed by the terms of the relevant carrier. Islandiae is not responsible for delays, damage, or lost shipments after the goods have been handed over to the carrier. If a shipment is lost or damaged in transit, the buyer should contact [email] as soon as possible, and we will assist with resolving the matter with the carrier.

Right of return and refund

Customers have a 14-day right of return from the date the product is received, in accordance with Icelandic Act no. 16/2016 on consumer contracts.

Return conditions:

• The product must be unused, undamaged, and in its original packaging.
• A receipt or sales invoice must be included, showing when the product was purchased.

The buyer must notify Islandiae of the decision to withdraw from the contract with an unambiguous statement within the 14-day period, for example through the contact page, or by sending the standard withdrawal form available from the Icelandic Consumer Agency (www.neytendastofa.is). Islandiae will confirm receipt of the withdrawal notice by email.

Cost: The buyer bears the direct shipping cost of returning the product. The original shipping cost is not refunded unless the buyer selected the least expensive available delivery option. A refund will be made no later than 14 days after Islandiae has received the product in acceptable condition, and will be issued to the same payment method used for the purchase.

Please note that the burden of proof that the right of withdrawal has been exercised in accordance with Article 19 of Act no. 16/2016 on consumer contracts rests with the buyer.

Custom-printed or custom-made products

Products that are custom-printed or custom-made according to the buyer's request, such as special sizes or custom-format prints that are not part of the standard selection, are not covered by the general 14-day right of return, cf. Article 18(1) of Act no. 16/2016 on consumer contracts. Such orders are final.

Defective products

If a product is defective or the wrong product is delivered, the buyer must notify Islandiae through the contact page within a reasonable time after receipt, preferably including a photo of the defect. The buyer will then be offered a replacement product, a discount, or a full refund, at Islandiae's discretion. All shipping costs relating to defective products are the responsibility of Islandiae. Defective products are otherwise governed by Icelandic Act no. 48/2003 on consumer purchases and Act no. 46/2000 on door-to-door sales and distance contracts.

Privacy and confidentiality

Islandiae treats all information provided in connection with purchases as confidential. Personal data is stored securely and used only to process orders, deliver products, and, with the buyer's consent, send newsletters or marketing material. Information is never shared with third parties unless necessary for delivery, such as with a carrier, or required by law.

The buyer undertakes to provide accurate personal information when making a purchase.

Purchasing a printed product gives the buyer ownership of the physical copy only, not reproduction rights to the image.

Changes to these terms

Islandiae reserves the right to change these terms without notice. The terms in effect on the purchase date apply to each order.

Law and venue

This agreement is governed by Icelandic law, including Act no. 16/2016 on consumer contracts, Act no. 48/2003 on consumer purchases, and Act no. 46/2000 on door-to-door sales and distance contracts. Any legal proceedings arising from this agreement shall be brought before the District Court of Reykjavik.
